What Personal Information Does Stratos Gather About You and How is it Collected?
Recently adopted regulations define personal data as “any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.” Some types of personal data and information gathered include:
Information You Provide: We receive and may store information you submit through use of our Website or give us in any way. Such information may include, but is not limited to, identity data, contact data, financial data, profile data, usage data, and aggregate data. Specifically, we may collect and store information you provide when creating your user account, such as your name and username, address, phone number, email address, login and password details, and payment information. We may also ask you for demographic information, such as age and gender. Providing demographic information is optional, and intended only so that we may have a better understanding of our user base. Other information that you may provide includes, but is not limited to, content you upload, such as any personal or business information you share, comments, feedback and surveys, and other material of any kind (“User Generated Content”). Collected information is used to enhance and customize your experience with the Website, to respond to your requests related to the Website, and to communicate with you. You can choose not to provide certain information, but then you might not be able to take full advantage of many of our features. Where we need to collect personal data in order to provide services, and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you. In this case, we may have to cancel a product or service you have with us. In such an instance, we will notify you in advance.
Automatic Information: We receive and store technical data and other information automatically when you interact with us through the Website. Such data and information are gathered by use of “cookies” and other similar technology. We may also collect and store server logs, including device IP address, access dates and times, features used, other system activity, and third-party sites or services you were using before interacting with our Website. You may disable cookies at any time. By doing so, the Website will not be able to recognize you as a registered user and may affect your experience.
E-mail Communications: We may, from time to time, receive marketing and communications data. If your computer supports such capabilities, we may receive confirmation when you open e-mails we send you. If you do not want to receive e-mail from us, please adjust your email preferences or unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our e-mails. Where you opt out of receiving such e-mail communications, this will not apply to personal data provided to us as a result of your use of the Website, product or service experience, or other transactions.
Transaction and Payment Information: We collect transaction data and details related to your purchasing of, paying for, or receiving services via the Website. Examples of such information include, but are not limited to, the date and time of purchases or payments for services (including bookings, deposits, and payments resulting from any damages), and other related transaction details.
From Your Mobile Device: We receive device and location identifiers when you access the Website using a mobile device. If you permit the Website to access location services through your mobile operating system, we may also collect the precise location of your device when the Website is running in the foreground or background. You can disable these functions at any time. However, by doing so, the Website may not recognize you as a registered user and may affect your experience.
Information from Other Sources: We may also receive technical data and information about you from other sources, including third-party website analytic tools via analytics providers (such as Google based outside the EU), which collect information about visitor traffic; log file information generated when you access or use the Website, and other metadata and in some instances, geolocation information.
How Does Stratos Use and Share This Information?
In the spirit of recent regulations, Stratos recognizes it is important that you know how we plan to use your personal data. By using the Website and accepting services, you agree that Stratos may use and share your information (including aggregate and anonymized information) as follows:
Improve User Experience: We may monitor and analyze activity, metrics, and trends, and use your information to provide services, facilitate payments, create new feature or data-related products and service offerings, or to learn how the Website is used; to develop, maintain, and improve your user experience; to understand how you use the Website and to deliver relevant content to you; to streamline the Website by storing your access credentials and log file; and to make suggestions and provide a customized experience via research and development, marketing and advertising; to fix technical errors, update the Website, and other internal operations; and to communicate with you.
Third Party Service Providers: We may employ other companies (including affiliates within our network) to perform functions on our behalf. These service providers and affiliate companies have access to personal and business information needed to perform their functions, but are not authorized to use it for other purposes. We do not provide any of your non-public information (such as payment information, password details, or your IP address) to third parties without your consent, unless required by law.
Protection of Stratos and Others: We will use collected information to enhance the safety and security of the Website and our users. In addition, we reserve the right to disclose information and any User Generated Content when we believe that doing so is reasonably necessary to comply with the law or law enforcement, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to protect Stratos rights.
In a Merger or Sale: Your information may be shared as a company asset in the event of a potential sale, merger, acquisition, or other change of ownership or control of Stratos, whether in part or whole.
How Does Stratos Protect Your Information and How Can You Help?
Stratos works to protect your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (“SSL”) software, which encrypts information you input. SSL is used to prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and to ensure the correct usage of information.
What Choices Do You Have?
You may access a broad range of information about your user account through the Website. You may update your information or deactivate and delete your account at any time. Stratos may, in its sole discretion, comply with your requests regarding access, correction, and/or deletion of personal data it stores in accordance with applicable law.
